# Report the result

> Who enters it, who validates it, the deadline, and what it changes in your ranking.

Every match ends the same way: **someone enters the score, the other side
validates.**

## Entering

The wizard asks for the score set by set, in the format of that sport — tennis
does not score like volleyball, and Matchely already knows that. Besides a
normal score, you can record:

* **Retired** — someone stopped midway; say who won and the sets up to then
* **Walkover** — one side did not show up (competition matches only)

A match already entered can be sent back to **pending** if the score is wrong.

## Validating

Your opponent gets an alert and validates it. Validation is what makes the
match count.

<Warning>
  **A friendly not validated within 7 days is deleted.** It does not become an
  eternal pending item and there is no administrator to settle it — if the
  window passes, the match simply stops existing and nobody scores.
</Warning>

<Note>
  **Nothing counts before validation.** Level, ranking, history, and head-to-head
  all wait for your opponent to confirm — which is why the match can be deleted
  at the end of the deadline without leaving anything behind. Validated, it is
  worth even more with a **photo or video** attached.
</Note>

## In a competition match

Players enter results while the round is open. The **organizer** can edit a
result at any time while the round is open — there is no formal dispute flow:
if the two sides disagree, they are the one who adjusts it.

<Warning>
  When a round closes, matches still pending become **cancelled**. It is not an
  automatic walkover, and nobody scores from them. Rescheduling is the
  organizer's call.
</Warning>

## Photos and videos

Every match has a gallery: photos, videos, and YouTube links, up to **25**
items. Beyond keeping the memory, attached media **raises the match's ranking
value** — it is the evidence that it happened.

Who can add: the players of the match and the competition's organizers.

## Sharing

Once the result is closed, you can share the score straight to WhatsApp.
